Devin Ponder

Green Country Defender Devin Ponder signs with Central Christian College of the Bible

MOBERLY, Mo – Central Christian College of the Bible head men’s basketball coach Jack Defreitas on Tuesday announced the signing of Devin Ponder for the 2016-17 season. Ponder is the first member of the Saints’ 2016 class. Ponder, a 5-9 combo guard from Tulsa, Okla., played his final season of basketball with the Green Country Defenders home school organization in 2014-15.

As a senior with Green Country, Ponder averaged 20.2 points and 3.5 steals per game for the Defenders, who finished the 2014-15 season with a record of 28-12. Ponder was named All-American and Offensive Player of the Year by the National Christian HomeSchool Basketball Championship (NCHBC) association in 2015.

Ponder suffered a season-ending knee injury during the first game of the 2015 NCHBC tournament in Springfield, Mo., and has taken the past year to rehabilitate the knee in preparation for the 2016-17 season.

“Devin is incredibly talented and comes from a great family,” Defreitas said. “He seemed to fit in immediately when he stepped on campus. He’s already had a great high school career, but I’m excited to see him progress on and off the court in college. He is a fun and positive young man who will have a large impact on the game with his talent and energy.”

Devin now joins an expanding list of Defenders who have gone on to play college basketball and earn their spot in Green Country’s Hall of Fame!

Congratulations, Devin Ponder – Green Country  Defender 2015-2016
