Christina Prather joined the Green Country family in 2018. She has been a part of the coaching staff for one year and is beginning her second year as the head coach.
Christina graduated in 1996 from Olive Public Schools where she played a post defense position from 1992-1995 before switching to 5 on 5 play her senior year. Her senior year she transitioned to a post player who led her team in rebounds. She aspired to play college basketball ever since Coach Stevens took a chance on her as a measly freshman guard in high school. Those dreams came true in 1996 when she headed to Northern Oklahoma College to play basketball. However, her desires changed when she got there and she began putting her time into student government and the Wesley House. She decided that God was directing her in a different path and trusted His word. From there, she enjoyed her intermural time to ward of the stresses of college.
Christina has been an assistant to both varsity boys and girls basketball at Olive Public Schools in her time there, along with coaching the 5th-6th program for 10 years and the junior high program for 3 years.
Her vision for the Green Country Defenders girls program is train up fundamentally sound players that can contribute positively no matter how much time they may be on the court. Every athlete, no matter what their level, can contribute to the benefit of the team. She believes in developing a growth mindset in all athletes that will encourage their desire to work outside of their regular practice time because that is where athletes are made and that is what gets them to the next level. Most importantly, Christina desires to develop young Christian women that are founded in faith, driven by love, and kept by God. She believes that with God at the center of your life and relationships, everything else will fall in place.
